Research resources in the Archive of the Griffith Institute

15th Jul, 2008 to 15th Jul, 2009

A list of the most important resources in the Archive of the Griffith Institute in Oxford is available online

Some 120 groups of manuscripts and other material are arranged by the name of the author or compiler of the resource and so reflect the cataloguing system used in this Archive. In many cases there are links to ISAD(G) forms which contain biographical details, physical description of the resource and other information.

Among the recent accessions are some 2,500 transparencies, negatives and photographic prints of ancient, Coptic and islamic monuments and scenes by the American photographer John G. Ross (1920-2006). Some of these can now be seen on the Griffith Institute’s website.

A catalogue of the papers of Sarah J. Clackson (1965-2003), mostly concerned with Coptic and Greek papyri and ostraca and Coptic archaeology, has recently been put online
